After graduating, he began a study stay at the 1st Eye Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University. From 1992 to 2001, he worked at the eye department of FTH in Prague, where he began performing cataract surgery under the guidance of head physician Sedláček. The techniques and habits he learned from him did not need to be significantly changed. After reducing his working hours, he worked as the head physician of the ophthalmology department at the Rumburk Hospital from 1995 to 2001, where he continued to perform surgeries. Since 2000, he has been working at the Ofta Eye Center in Pilsen, where he has been the head physician since 2010. Since 2004, he has been working at the Eye Clinic for Children and Adults at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and Motol University Hospital. Since 1998, he has been teaching at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, and since 2010 at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University.
During his practice, he has performed over 50,000 cataract surgeries. He is primarily interested in the calculation of intraocular lenses and complicated cases, such as traumatic cataracts, iris defects, and capsule problems. At the Motol University Hospital, he mainly focuses on congenital and traumatic cataracts.
He is a lecturer at the Cataract School and the Advanced Cataract School. He leads courses on biometry and complicated cataracts at ČOS congresses. He led a course on complicated cataract surgeries at the ESCRS congress.
He is a co-founder of the Czech Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ČSRKCH), was a member of the preparatory committee and, for several terms, a member of the ČSRKCH executive committee. The same applies to the Czech Contact Lens Society. For one term, he was a member of the COS audit committee. He has published several editions of Novinky v Oftalmologii (News in Ophthalmology) and Česká kontaktologie (Czech Contactology). He is a member of the ESCRS.
